Max is an art historian.
He has a special interest in architecture of all periods, but his true passion is the ‘Amsterdam School’ architecture of the 1900s.
On a late summer afternoon, we went on a cycle with Max along the characteristic Amsterdam School buildings. We learned how – over a century ago – an insurgent group of young architects with a vision on functionality and style and an urge to shake up the status quo, came to design the social housing projects that bring in millions of tourist to Amsterdam each year.
If you’re ever in Amsterdam and you want to make the same cycle, you can book a tour with Max via JO cadeau (a Dutch social enterprise).
